Anwar-ul-Bayan - Al-Waaqia : 53
وَ قَالُوْا یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْ نُزِّلَ عَلَیْهِ الذِّكْرُ اِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُوْنٌؕ
وَقَالُوْا : اور وہ بولے يٰٓاَيُّھَا : اے وہ الَّذِيْ نُزِّلَ : وہ جو کہ اتارا گیا عَلَيْهِ : اس پر الذِّكْرُ : یاد دہانی (قرآن) اِنَّكَ : بیشک تو لَمَجْنُوْنٌ : دیوانہ
They say: "O you to whom the Admonition 3 has been revealed, you are surely crazed.
3. The word zikr literally means“to cause to remember”,“to caution”and“to give advice”. But the Quran has used it as a technical term for“admonition”, which comes as a precept. Thus all the Books that had been sent down to the Messengers were zikr, and the Quran is also zikr.
